What is a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ)?

A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is an area where parking is only allowed on certain parts of the road for a limited time unless you have a permit.

Why are CPZs used?

Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) reduce traffic and parking congestion for residents who live in or near to town centres or tourist/visitor hotspots.

A CPZ aims to:

• allow the flow of traffic and emergency vehicles down streets that are heavily parked on
• allow residents to park near their own homes.
  

CPZs can apply to whole parts of a town, whereas a Residents Parking Scheme (RPS) normally applies to individual streets.

CPZs operate in Bridlington, Beverley and Howden. Maps of the zones are available below:

Where can I find a list of streets included in the latest expansion of the Beverley CPZ?

Below is a list of the streets included in the expanded Beverley CPZ from February 2020:

What do the CPZ signs look like and mean?

There are three types of signs/markings which tell you when you are in a CPZ:

You will know when you enter a CPZ area because there will be signs like the one below:

Why might there be signs up saying I can't park in the CPZ area, even with a permit?

From time to time we may have to stop people parking in parking bays for a number of reasons including road works or large delivery vehicles.

If we do this, we will normally give seven days’ notice (unless it is an emergency). Notice will be given by erecting warning notices on site adjacent to the affected parking bays. Within the stated times you will not be able to park in the bay(s) that are affected.

Please note: if you are parked in a suspended bay (for example, the bay is suspended whilst you are away from the address), your vehicle will be moved to a safe location as near as possible to its original location.
