The RDPE LEADER programme cuts across local authority boundaries between the East Riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire County Council, Ryedale Distrct and Scarborough Borough. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is the lead partner and is the accountable body for the Programme.

The local authorities will operate under a partnership agreement called a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure the efficient delivery of the RDPE CWWW LEADER Programme. Below is some further information about the partners.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC)

North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC)

North Yorkshire County Council supports and promotes the new LEADER (CWWW) programme. NYCC wants to enhance and embrace fully the opportunity of cross-boundary working with East Riding Council on rural development issues. Main objective for NYCC would be to support and maximise rural development opportunities for Ryedale and Scarborough, as well as for the wider LEADER CWWW Area and in conjunction with other LEADER areas in Yorkshire and Humber Region.

Ryedale District Council (RDC)

Ryedale District Council is committed to the Coast Wolds Wetlands and Waterways LEADER programme. RDC wards in the CWWW area are rich in environmental heritage and have some of the most interesting and regionally important sites in the area including:

  • 20 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs)

  • 31 Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs)  

  • 5 Regionally Important Geological/Geomorphogical Sites (RIGS)  

  • 83 Scheduled Ancient Monuments

  • 351 Listed Buildings  

RDC is committed to working with communities in the Wolds to ensure the unique heritage, culture and environment of the area is enhanced through this exciting programme.

Scarborough Borough Council

Scarborough Borough Council are one of the key partners in the delivery of the Leader programme for the Coast, Wolds, Wetlands and Waterways (CWWW) area The programme will support rural development projects which will improve economic performance and sustainability within rural areas. Within the Borough Council area, the CWWW programme covers the following parishes:

  • Lebberston

  • Cayton

  • Gristhorpe

  • Folkton

  • Muston

  • Filey

  • Hunmanby

  • Reighton

Officers from Regeneration Services at the Borough Council are represented on the Leader Local Action Group (LAG) and provide the main means of communication for promotion of the programme across the area. Officers will also be able to provide project support, advice and guidance, where required.
